CFHLA Leadership Mentoring Class III

CFHLA is proud to announce the selection of 18 mentees and 30 mentors, who will participate in CFHLA’s Leadership Mentoring Program, Class III. Each of these individuals represent our up-and-coming diverse and future leaders of the hospitality industry throughout the Central Florida region.

In just two years, the program has more than doubled in size and each participant will be mentored by at least two industry professionals throughout the year. Furthermore, the participants will focus on developing additional transferable leadership skills including leadership management, public speaking, networking, conflict resolution and emotional intelligence.

2024 CFHLA Scholarship Receipients

2024 CFHLA GIVES Luncheon & CARES Drive

On June 20th, the Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association, in partnership with our CFHLA Foundation, was proud to host our annual Gives Luncheon and CARES Collection Drive at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista South.

In total, the CFHLA Foundation was thrilled to award $187,550 in student scholarship and grants this year!

Additionally, this luncheon featured the following highlights including:

  • $142,600 was distributed to 64 Hospitality Student and Family Member Scholarship recipients.
  • Among the 64 scholarship recipients was sixteen recently graduated Central Florida High School seniors. This doubled last year’s totals.
  • Johan Miranda, was selected as our newest Don and Lorraine Freeberg Foundation Scholarship recipient. Johan recently graduated in May from Lyman High School and will continue his education this fall at Valencia College. Johan will be receiving a $40,000 Scholarship, with a disbursement of $10,000 over the course of four years and a paid internship opportunity at the Caribe Royale Orlando, the Embassy Suites Orlando Lake Buena Vista South, and the Buena Vista Suites Orlando.
  • The CFHLA Foundation has now awarded nearly $1,300,000 in hospitality student scholarships since its inception in 2000.
  • Six Hospitality Education and Community Grants were awarded for a total of $44,950.
  • The recognition of 104 CFHLA Members, consisting of Lodging and Allied Members, who took part in the CFHLA's Adopt-A-School Partnership throughout the 2023-2024 academic year. This was a 17% increase from the 2022-2023 academic year.

Additionally, CFHLA held a CARES Collection Drive prior to and during the GIVES Luncheon. Through the incredible generosity of our partners and members, more than 27,000 items were donated to support Central Florida students in need throughout the region.

The hospitality industry is a tremendous asset to the Central Florida community and through our collaborative efforts, we are grateful for the continued opportunity to positively impact the lives of our local residents and partners in need.
